emo? whateva

Image by Selen Yuruk on DevianArt

Today was my first day as a volunteer for SFF. Frankly, this was my first event which was super strict on dress code. We had to wear all black and formal. God knows how i managed to pull off my outfit within a short notice of 24 hours. Thankfully, Fion lent me her black heels and thank god we have the same feet size! However i had to forgo my facial appointment coz i had spent that portion of my savings on my outfit. But the bottom line; i still get my CE points and the experience. so im going for it:)There's no turning back anyways.
Oh yea i think it's time to pen down on what i'm feeling. Sometimes i hate to be responsible and be expected to act like an adult. Being 17 makes me feel like as if i'm 27 years old. Bills, debt, chores and god knows what. Maybe i'm just going through a mid-life crisis at the age of 17 or maybe i have to fulfill people's expectations to earn respect. Whatever it is, i don't wanna grow up too fast. Right now, only my horoscope is being optimistic. 'If you're down, you're pretty far down, but you can tell it won't be long before you start to pick yourself back up.' Thanks a bunch. I really need that.

New look:)

Today, for the first time when i came across my blog, i knew i had to do something right away. I mean, I liked my previous layout and blogskin, however it wasn't me. I felt that my blog has to be contingent on the kind of a person i am at that point of time. So i got rid of the girly pink layout and brought in a simple blogger template instead. My playlist and the images i showcase from devianART reflects what i'm going through and defines who i am;) There are going to be alot more changes. So stay tune!

confession of a shopaholic

On Tuesday, march 17, my girlfriends and i went to watch Step up 2. It was really an awesome movie and the dancing was perfect. gosh, how i wished i could dance like that.haha. Unfortunately, i have two left feet. well at least i think so. i have never really danced before. After the movie, jumana had other plans so she had to leave. So me, zahra and ruqaiyah went shopping! I bought this great pair of off-white skinnies, shoes (me and zahra bought the same pair.hehe) and a spagetti top. Even though, i had zero balance left and didnt have cash to pay for transportation fees. i didn't regret on what i purchased. Especially the skinnies:D
So much for retail therapy;)

damn machine!

i would never ever forget the experience i had yesterday. i went to the bank to deposit 50 bucks into my account. Apparently, the bank was closed because it was a Sunday, so i decided to deposit it into the 'deposit cash' machine. Well, just my luck, the damn machine had to shut down at that point of time. So yeah, my 50 bucks was trapped inside. Fortunately, this helpful man alerted me to call the customer service hotline. The officer apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured me that the bank would deposit my money back into my account by today afternoon. Phew!
Note to self: never ever use the machine to deposit cash. i rather join the queue in the bank and deposit manually.

Breakaway

Breakaway by kellyclarkson
Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

[Chorus:]
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

[Chorus]

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway

Just what i'm feeling and experiencing.period.

Are you ready to step up??

Happy International Women's day!

About International Women's Day
International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women's and society's thoughts about women's equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation feel that 'all the battles have been won for women' while many feminists from the 1970's know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women's visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think that women have gained true equality. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women's education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men.

However, great improvements have been made. We do have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomed into university, women can work and have a family, women have real choices. And so the tone and nature of IWD has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.

Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. While there are many large-scale initiatives, a rich and diverse fabric of local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.
